Dr. Debra Robinson

Farewell from
Dr. Debra Robinson

It is hard to believe I have been at Missouri S&T for 44 years. When I came as a psychologist in the Counseling Center I planned to stay
3-5 years. Within 5 years, I became connected to the campus and the Rolla community, been promoted

to assistant director of counseling, and had two children. Every time I thought about leaving, an interesting new opportunity presented itself.

I have had the immense pleasure of working with many wonderful colleagues and students. Thank you for being a part of my incredible journey at S&T. I encourage each of you to be open to new possibilities and continue to grow both personally and professionally. Your continued commitment and dedication to our new Division of Student Success will help continue to bring success to our students.

Best Regards,

Dr. Debra Robinson, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

Two Day Career Fair Fall 2024

Fall Career Fair moves to two days!

To better serve our students, career opportunities and employer relations has split the fair. Tuesday, Sept. 24, will be for internship & co-op positions, and Wednesday, Sept. 25, will be for full-time jobs. Some employers may only be present for one day, others for both, entirely based on their hiring needs. The fair will run from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day at Gale Bullman. There will be on-campus interviews Tuesday and Wednesday evening following each fair, and all-day Thursday. This fair split also means we will need even more volunteers to make everything run smoothly, consider helping us for a shift on one or both fair days! Be watching for opportunities to sign up to volunteer.

Tips for a healthy work/life balance with Mak the mole

Tips for healthy work/life balance

1. Set and stick with working boundaries, such as time set aside each day for getting organized, working on projects, and eating lunch. If you work in a shared office space, communicate with those around you to let them know your needs, or if you need complete silence, then consider working in a designated space for focused work.

2. When possible, minimize decision fatigue in the workplace. To reduce this, make the most important decisions first in your workday, and limit and simplify your choices. Decision fatigue can also be reduced by making decisions collaboratively in a group of your peers where everyone’s ideas are heard and shared.

Continued in next issue!
