As I eagerly look forward to the new academic year (my first) here in Rolla, allow me to share some recent campus accomplishments, from a pair of new department chairs joining the college to our exciting plans for a new Advanced Construction and Materials Laboratory for civil infrastructure research.

Geochemist named department chair

David Borrok was inaugural director of the School of Geosciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He joins S&T as chair of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering.

S&T at the Kansas City Maker Faire
 

Making a mark at Maker Faire

Some 17,000 makers from throughout the Midwest attended Maker Faire Kansas City last month. Missouri S&T helped sponsor the event, which featured an appearance by S&T's Mars Rover Design Team, fresh from a first-place showing at an international design competition.
