It’s time to get social!

Welcome to Missouri S&T’s September Social Media Newsletter!

Each month, this email provides helpful tips, important announcements, trending content and other resources to help your S&T social media presence thrive.

Tip of the month: Let students take over!

Students are great to feature on social media, especially if they can make content for you!

A simple vlog through a student's day, a campus event, a fun trend - students know how to film and edit that content, and know how to make it fun!

As an example, check out this recent student-created video featuring Jane Yates showcasing her day in the life at Missouri S&T.

Social shoutouts!

Who’s standing out right now in the Missouri S&T social media landscape?

For staff-run pages, we'd like to give a shout-out to the Celebration Of Nations Facebook page!

We have been loving their behind-the-scenes posts, videos and many great photos of Celebration of Nations.

Multiple people posing for the camera while sporting Celebration Of Nations T-shirts, and they are folding the shirts for the event.

For student-run pages, we'd like to shout out the Missouri S&T Spelunking Club. They post amazing photos of their local caving adventures! Follow them on Instagram.

Video spotlight: Fall Career Fair

The 2024 Fall Career Fair was this month, and it was a little different this time! The Career Fair was split into two days. The 24th was the internship and co-op fair, while the 25th was the full-time career fair.

Check out our video featuring the fair on the 24th.

Our September favorite: Microorganism Day

A Missouri S&T professor and two students stand in front of the Leach Theatre Millennium Arch, since they had filled the arch with microbe plushies.

September 17 was International Microorganism Day, so Dr. David Westenberg, Professor of Biological Sciences, and two of his students filled the Millennium Arch in front of Leach Theatre with microbes.

Check out the post on Facebook.

NEW: How-to video series!

Over the years, we've been asked many valid questions about social media, especially about video content creation such as, "What can we make videos about?" Or, "What's the easiest way to edit videos for social media?" Many of these questions have now been answered in our new how-to video series!

To get started, check out the first video titled "Creating Simple Social Media Videos" for beginner video creation and editing tips. Once you finish that video, feel free to scroll down to other videos in the series. As always, if you have any questions or need one-on-one training with videos, feel free to email Kaitlin at kmb8c7@mst.edu.
