Happy September! With the help of pumpkin spiced lattes, we have powered through the first weeks of the fall semester. I hope you have got out your Halloween decorations and are already making plans for the spooky season, because Staff Council is moving full steam ahead to create a fall Staff Appreciation Day of epic proportions.

Earlier this month, Staff Council approved the event’s preliminary budget and began planning exciting events and activities. Special shoutout to the Staff Council Involvement Committee and its volunteers for the hard work making this celebration possible.
All you ghouls and ghosts, dust off your Halloween costume and get ready for a day filled with appreciation for the hard work we do throughout the year. To learn more about the costume contest and other activities, visit the Staff Appreciation Day webpage.
Staff Council thanks Chancellor Mo Dehghani and the leadership team for their support in making this event a reality. The next Staff Council meeting will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, in Room 115 of the Innovation Lab or on Teams.

- Meet Austin Wall, September’s Staff Council spotlight!
- Staff Council’s next meeting is 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9., in Room 115 of the Innovation Lab or on Teams.
- Fall Staff Appreciation Day is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31
- First-day enrollment at Missouri S&T tops 7,100! Congratulations to the enrollment management team and all staff members who help students find Missouri S&T.
- Congratulations to the University Police and Chief Doug Roberts as S&T wins Clery Center’s 2025 Campus Safety Impact Award.
- Greg Edwards, Staff Council vice president and a senior strategic communications consultant in marketing and communications, was elected the 2025-26 worshipful master of Rolla Masonic Lodge.
- Missouri S&T is saddened to learn about the passing of Thomas Shipley, former manager of video productions in communications. Shipley began working at Missouri S&T in 1998 and retired in 2011.
- Missouri S&T received an excellence in mental health and well-being award. The Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award is a measure of an institution’s individual programs and initiatives that significantly advance student inclusion and belonging through programs and initiatives.
- Princeton Review rates S&T in top 5 for career placement and internships!
- Missouri S&T hosts fall observatory events. Amateur astronomers are invited to observe the skies through the 16-inch telescope at the Missouri S&T Observatory this fall.
- Get to know Melissa Pence, program support coordinator for the Electromagnetic Compatibility Laboratory, in the Q&A with the College of Engineering and Computing.
