Every April, Missouri S&T students celebrate the spirit of giving by digging deeper to make a difference. During Philanthropy Month, you’ll find them supporting each other and the many causes close to their hearts. OGS survey results: responding to your feedback Thank you to the members who completed our survey. Your feedback truly makes a difference. In response to many members who would like to connect more frequently with each other — and those who would like to gather in Rolla — we’re planning an OGS campus event on Saturday, Oct. 13, during Homecoming. Watch for details! Thank you also for your feedback on our 2017 OGS Weekend in Denver. We received many great comments about our day trip to the Solar Decathlon (where S&T’s Solar House Student Design Team earned a fourth-place finish). For our next OGS Weekend in 2019, we’re considering three possible destinations: Chicago, Fort Worth and Washington, D.C. We'll be sharing more information soon. OGS members in their own words:
![]() Grab your green, parade your pride and party on Pine Mark your calendar for the Miner Alumni Association’s 110th Best Ever St. Pat’s Celebration on Saturday, March 17, at Hasselmann Alumni House, 1100 N. Pine St. The festivities begin with breakfast from 9-10:30 a.m. Then view the parade at 11 a.m. from the best corner in town. We’ll continue the celebration with a pig roast from noon-2 p.m. Reservations for lunch are required by Monday, March 5. Space is limited. Register at Mineralumni.com/VIP2018. ![]() EWB challenge moves toward $1 million goal In 2016, the Houston-based Montana Cahill Foundation, led by OGS members Peggy Cahill Montana, ChE’76, and Duane Montana, CE’75, awarded the largest gift in the history of Engineers Without Borders at Missouri S&T: a $500,000 challenge grant. To date, $350,000 has been raised in response to the challenge, much of it from OGS members, including a $250,000 gift from David, ME’93, and Ann Heikkinen, a $50,000 challenge from Rick Stephenson, S&T professor emeritus of civil engineering and longtime advisor to the chapter, and a $25,000 gift from Bipin, ChE’62, MS ChE’63, and Linda Doshi. EWB is only $150,000 away from reaching its goal of raising $1 million. Missouri S&T launched its first online degree program — in engineering management — in 1998. For more information on online degrees at S&T, visit dce.mst.edu. Your invitation to comment on accreditation Missouri S&T is seeking comments about the university in preparation for our periodic evaluation by our regional accrediting agency, the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
