Dear alumni, students, faculty and staff:

As we celebrate Independence Day and I start my second year on the job as Dean of Kummer College, we are planning for more interdependence!

We depend on relationships with our S&T community, businesses in our Rolla region, employers of our students, alumni and our corporate partners. We are very well-prepared to expand our strong corporate partnerships through professional graduate education and a host of online anytime-anyplace educational offerings.

Looking at the stories highlighted below, you will notice the role of industry partnerships and innovation. S&T prides itself on many forms of experiential learning from capstone projects, design projects, clubs, volunteer work, internships, co-ops and now a new program known as Team Innovation Projects, or TIPs, which engages corporate sponsors with an interdisciplinary team of both undergraduate and graduate students supervised by a faculty advisor and a corporate liaison customer.

Finally,  I'm happy to say that Kummer College is gaining traction as the newest college at S&T — and the team is growing!

Happy Independence Day,

Sincerely,

Signed James D. Sterling
