Time-traveling concrete: S&T researcher looks to ancient Rome to transform modern industry

A professor at Missouri S&T is researching how to mimic the chemistry and composition of ancient Roman concrete while also applying modern technology to make it even better. He was recently awarded the National Science Foundation’s CAREER award to support his research.

S&T researchers are one step closer to 3D printing human organs

Missouri S&T researchers have developed a new process for creating nanoparticles that rapidly solidify when exposed to light. These new materials could potentially be used to 3D print tissue scaffolds for organ replacement or deliver drugs to specific regions of the body.

Maryland lieutenant governor, an S&T alumna, inducted into university’s Academy of Civil Engineers

Aruna Miller, a 1989 civil engineering graduate of Missouri S&T, has been a “first” several times in her life. Most recently, on January 18, 2023, Miller was sworn in as lieutenant governor of Maryland — and as the first South Asian female elected to this role in the United States. On April 13, she returned to her alma mater and was inducted as the first South Asian female member of S&T’s Academy of Civil Engineers.

S&T lab partners with top electronics companies, military agencies for EMC research

Missouri S&T is home to the largest electromagnetic compatibility laboratory of its kind in the world. The lab’s director says it would be impossible to estimate how many electronics are in some way affected by the university when considering S&T’s extensive list of industry partners and the number of alumni working in the field.

Manufacturing moon metal: Missouri S&T students conduct research for NASA challenge

An aerospace engineering Ph.D. student at Missouri S&T is leading a team of 12 undergraduate students on a research project that is literally out of this world. The group recently received funding to continue its work for NASA’s 2023 Breakthrough, Innovative, and Game-Changing Idea (BIG Idea) Challenge: Lunar Forge.
