Dear alumni, students, faculty and staff:

|
The outstanding faculty and staff of Kummer College have been doing great work over the summer. Whether hosting summer programs, teaching summer classes, mentoring research students or writing scholarly papers and proposals, they inspire me to help ensure that the resources are available to accomplish our ambitious goals. Now I'm thrilled to see increased activity on campus as we kick off the fall semester, my first at S&T! Welcome to the new and returning students in Kummer College programs in our economics, BIT and EMSE departments.

We recently launched the Innovation Ecosystem Design Initiative, our first named initiative, which will result in a set of recommendations for branding our fledgling entrepreneurial community and present a set of guiding principles for the development of a robust Rolla-centered regional innovation ecosystem. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Venkat Allada, professor of engineering management and systems engineering, will serve as the initiative’s executive director. He will work with Dr. Tim Faley, associate vice chancellor of innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization, and Dr. Rachel Kohman, director of Kummer Student Programs, to promote, monitor and guide the myriad of entrepreneurial activities at S&T.
Stay tuned for more information on the launch of our speaker series focused on the study of regional innovation ecosystems.
