Payton Gannaway, Jordan Burton and Shelby Ply Named to All-GLVC Volleyball Teams

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced its All-Conference Teams and major award winners Thursday ahead of the 2021 GLVC Volleyball Championships and three members of the Missouri S&T volleyball team were selected to the All-Conference Teams. Payton Gannaway (Lawrence, KS/Lawrence Free State) was named to the league's first team while Jordan Burton (Olathe, KS/Olathe South) and Shelby Ply (Rolla, MO/Rolla) were tabbed as Second Team honorees.
 
Gannaway was named the First Team for second time in her career after posting a stellar fall 2021 campaign. She led the Miners with 413 kills and 59 service aces and finished second in the league in both categories. Defensively, Gannaway also recorded 212 digs along with 69 total blocks and recorded eight double-doubles (kills/digs) this season. She recorded double-digit kills in 25 matches and logged 20 or more kills in six matches.
 
Burton, the 2020-21 Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-Conference selection, finished in the top 10 in the GLVC in kills per set this season with 3.15 as her 287 kills were second on the team and also among the league leaders. In the 23 matches she appeared in, she recorded double-digit kills 20 times. She also recorded 71 digs on the season and was in on 45 total blocks, including six solo efforts.
 
Ply, garnering her first All-Conference accolades this season, joined Gannaway and Burton as one of three Miners with over 200 kills this season, finishing the regular season with 240. Her .315 hitting efficiency led the team and ranked in the top 10 in the GLVC this season. Defensively, she recorded 39 digs and was second on the team in total blocks with 94, including 14 solo efforts.
 
The Miners open postseason play tomorrow at 1 P.M. at the Eastside Centre against fifth-seeded Quincy University.
